AVID = Advancement Via Individual Determination
We are beyond excited to announce our transition to becoming Santa Clara County's first AVID Elementary school! AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. Our student detectives will be working hard on organization, writing to learn, growth mindset, communication, communities, and so many more student success skills across the curriculum.

Google Sites/Classroom
Your student detectives have a gmail and our class has a google classroom and site that will be used for our collaboration and another means of communication.

REMEMBER: Read every night! Beginning in Sept., record the # of pages, and have a guardian sign your "Reading is Cool" reading log each night. The more pages YOU read, the more pages WE earn as a class.

SJ Sharks - Reading is Cool

Tons of papers going home - Good bye! This year we will be creating a digital profile on an app called "Seesaw" that allows families access from anywhere. Your student detectives will be taking pictures and videos of their progress/work to share with you their growth and success. Families will be receiving special invites to access their students work by early October.
